Position Summary

The Commodity Manager will be responsible for executing and managing the Procurement process of designated raw materials and commodities to reduce the total cost of ownership for goods and services while ensuring uninterrupted supply. This individual will manage up to $400 Million annual spend for Bridgestone Americas business units by interacting with both external suppliers and internal customers to identify, implement, and realize optimal value.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Procurement support for all assigned manufacturing plants to ensure continuous flow of required raw materials 
  • Monitor commodity impacting market trends to establish insight for strategy development, execution and risk mitigation 
  • Manages and enhances raw material supplier performance and support new supplier qualifications to optimize supply base for cost savings and supply protection 
  • Assists in setting line item budgets 
  • Work with various internal customers to gather and assess requirements 
  • Support implementation of sourcing strategies 
  • Assist in reviewing, assessing and negotiating supplier proposals as well as managing Supplier Relationships 
  • Ensuring relevant collection of internal and external data collection 
  • Perform transactional purchase order placement and discrepancy resolutions 
  • Ensure that suppliers meet all safety, quality, environmental and business requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA a plus 
  • 5+ years experience in strategic and/or operational purchasing or relevant business experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Products 
  • Exposure and experience with SAP preferred 
  • Ability to multitask and adapt priorities quickly 
  • Effective and advanced communication skills 
  • Problem solving, ability to identify key issues and effectively coordinate efforts to achieve resolution 
  • Ability to work in a team environment
