  • Position Summary

    The Materials Technician is responsible for inventory management to support both internal and external customers needs. This includes the processes and accountabilities for shipping, receiving, material handling and plant key performance indicators (KPI’s).

    Responsibilities

     

    1. Embrace and nurture the Bridgestone Mission, Vision, Essence and Core Values. 
    2. Collaborate with the support team to ensure alignment with strategic intentions in an effort to provide support and ensure a safe work environment, environmental compliance, cost management, while providing superior quality products and services to continually improve customer satisfaction managed through a systematic approach. 
    3. Align and inspire teammate participation in all team related activities to include self-directed work teams, kaizen teams, safety teams, subcore process teams, etc. 
    4. Responsible for timely shipment of all domestic and international orders 
    5. Execute the inventory cycle count program. This includes identitying, counting, reconciling and adjusting the on hand inventory. 
    6. Must understand shipping regulations as they pertain to domestic and international shipments and prepare the necessary documents to complete the shipping function. This individual must also understand the regulations pertaining to the shipment of hazardous materials for domestic and international shipments.  
    7. Must use the ERP system to perform the shipping, receiving and materials functions (i.e. on-line receiving, forced out shop orders, close shop orders, make inventory adjustments, pick and issue inventory, make bills of material changes, record scrap and rework, stage work in process materials and maintain correct supply inventories 
    8. Safely operate material handling equipment (Lifts, Jacks & Cranes, Fork Trucks). 
    9. Use the necessary power and hand tools to crate parts and equipment for damage free shipments. Operate equipment used to perform the shipping function (i.e. electronic scale, postage meter, address and labeling machines and any new equipment due to changing technology). 
    10. Promote positive impacts of corporate citizenship and sustain brand image by staying informed of community and governmental activities, to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

    Qualifications

    Associates degree required

    3 - 5 years manufacturing or warehouse experience required  

    An ideal candidate would have experience in:

    1. Hazardous material handling and shipping regulations
    2. Transportation or logistics
